The Frisc is a small nonprofit newsroom that covers San Francisco’s big civic issues. (Think "Frisco" without the O.) We're dipping our first toes into online ads/sponsorships and looking for a salesperson to work with us on a limited-time basis.

Role Description This is a contract-based role for an online media ad/sponsorship sales professional. Our plan is to produce a five-week pop-up site with a range of editorial content and related live events, all based around the fun part of what we do: exploring and celebrating San Francisco with an insider's eye for hidden gems and new perspectives. (The site will include new columns about fun unexpected city adventures like these , an SF-based photo contest, and more.) There will also be dedicated newsletters to promote the content and events.

The job will require a familiarity and experience with San Francisco advertisers, the willingness to prospect for new leads, understanding The Frisc's readership and value proposition, contacting potential ad buyers, and securing short-term commitments.

If this run is successful, the contract work could transform into a longer‑term part‑time contract role. If a one or two month gig focusing on San Francisco advertisers seems interesting, please let us know.

Qualifications

Professional communication, organizational, and writing skills.

Previous experience and familiarity with San Francisco specifically or the Bay Area generally.

Previous experience with ad sales for media and journalism a plus.
