A growing manufacturing operation is seeking a hands‑on
Purchasing Specialist / Buyer
to support high‑volume production by ensuring the right materials are in place at the right time. This role sits at the center of operations—owning supplier relationships, managing steel procurement, and coordinating freight to keep production moving without disruption.

Procurement & Materials
Purchase steel and direct materials for production needs
Source indirect materials and operational supplies
Monitor inventory levels aligned with production schedules
Evaluate suppliers on pricing, quality, and delivery performance
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
Issue and track purchase orders to ensure on‑time delivery
Coordinate inbound freight for raw materials
Arrange outbound shipments as needed
Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers
Ensure delivery schedules align with production demands
Systems & Reporting
Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
Manage purchase orders and inventory within ERP systems
Track pricing trends and supplier performance metrics
Support cost control and reporting initiatives
Cross-Functional Support
Partner with production, operations, and accounting teams
Communicate material shortages, delays, and risks
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the supply chain
What You Bring
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office capability
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
High attention to detail with solid problem‑solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration across teams
Preferred Background
Experience in manufacturing purchasing or procurement
Exposure to ERP systems (Sage or similar)
Knowledge of steel or industrial materials purchasing
Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
