Position Summary UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated
Medical Biller (Billing Specialist)
to join our revenue cycle team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, including charge entry, payment posting, claim follow-up, and patient account support.
The Experienced Medical Biller is responsible for accurately preparing, submitting, and managing medical claims to insurance companies and patients. This role ensures timely reimbursement by following up on unpaid claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with payer regulations and healthcare laws.
The Billing Specialist plays an important part in supporting both patients and organizational success through strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities Accurately enter physician charges, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers into the billing system
Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy
Ensure all billing data is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
Identify and correct charge entry errors prior to claim submission
Claims Follow-Up & Payment Posting Monitor, follow up, and resolve denied or underpaid claims
Track and manage claim edits, rejections, and clearinghouse issues
Resubmit corrected claims promptly to minimize delays in reimbursement
Post patient and insurance payments in alignment with EOBs
Manage refunds and payment adjustments when necessary
Patient Support & Collaboration Respond professionally to patient inquiries regarding balances and statements
Work collaboratively with coding and clinical teams to prevent recurring issues
Assist with coverage, special projects, and related administrative tasks as directed
Compliance & Reporting
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer-specific regulation
Stay current on billing guidelines and regulatory updates
Support reporting efforts related to revenue cycle performance
Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of medical billing experience required
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge of billing processes, coding, and revenue cycle principles
Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and management
Ability to collaborate effectively while managing multiple priorities
Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
preferred but not required
