This highly technical position directs the functions of the Access Control and Security Systems Division. Responsibilities include: Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities Operations - Campus Services Developing and implementing the Master Plan Security and Technology Project for Emory University Planning, directing, and coordinating the selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment utilized for access control and security purposes Developing, implementing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and programs Overseeing the management and maintenance of network-based security camera, alarm, card access, and key lock systems Providing regular reports on tests and functionality of all systems Troubleshooting software and hardware issues; communicating with vendors and technical support for related issues Preparing cost, status, and justification reports Working closely with the Police Department, campuses, facilities, and major sites across the enterprise to manage security hardware design and product selection Providing managerial oversight for vendor contracts Directing installation of all access control and security systems, and associated devices Monitoring progress and quality of installations performed by contractors Directing all aspects of the access control, CCTV, and alarm systems and the lock shop Serving as Chair of the Electronic Security Review Committee Determining technical requirements and coordinating the preparation of purchase requisitions for access control and security, alarm, and CCTV systems equipment, peripherals, and hardware to support system growth, additions, changes, etc. Supervising and managing assigned staff Managing the review of, and providing direction related to, new designs and plans for construction and renovation for compliance with university standards and approvals (doors, hardware, access control, emergency phones and call boxes & CCTV) Researching, recommending, and implementing security system upgrades, new technologies, training opportunities, and other steps necessary to maintain the highest levels of proficiency in security and safety Participating in strategic initiatives such as improving security systems, policies, procedures, inventory controls, technical documentations, etc. Maintaining documentation of system configuration and device location Maintaining access control records and files, including requests for access and distribution of keys / cards Developing and maintaining a complete inventory of access control and security systems-related equipment Managing access control and security technology maintenance Maintaining contact, either directly or through subordinate supervisors, between employees, contractors, and vendors to troubleshoot all access control and security systems and address issues Resolving technology service issues in support of the organization's operational, management, business, marketing, and strategic planning needs Diagnosing and correcting problems with security systems hardware and software Installing and monitoring components for CCTV, electronic and keyed access control, and intrusion/panic alarm systems Enhancing professional skills by attending training sessions, workshops/seminars, and reviewing published literature Preparing and obtaining estimates and invoices for work performed by employees and contractors Directing training of Police Department personnel and other end-users in use of the systems Adhering to internal controls established for the Access Control and Security Systems Division Managing and maintaining system audits Managing the access control system open / close scheduling process for facilities based upon individual building schedules and events Performing other related duties as required Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and seven years of progressive responsibility and experience working with electronic security system installation, operations, maintenance, and management, including three years of leadership and supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
