About the Role
The Company is in search of a mission-driven, community-oriented Executive Director to lead its efforts in creating and preserving permanently affordable housing. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic, operational, and external leadership, working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, donors, and public partners. This role involves being the public face of the organization, stewarding relationships, and ensuring strong internal operations to advance the mission of affordable housing. The Executive Director will lead a small, dedicated team, engage with the community, and balance development oversight, fundraising, and team leadership in a high-impact environment.
Key priorities for the new Executive Director include building and deepening relationships with various stakeholders, strengthening and diversifying fundraising, advancing real estate development initiatives, and partnering with the Board on strategic planning. Essential qualifications include a minimum of 3-5 years' senior-level experience, a proven track record in affordable housing and community land trust models, and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will be an excellent relationship builder, adept at fundraising, and possess strong business acumen and people leadership skills. They should be a skilled communicator, adaptable, and have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects. The role is based on San Juan Island, and the candidate should be excited about living and working in a small, close-knit community.
