PJW Group has been retained to find a strong Human Resource Business Partner for a manufacturing client in Phoenix. This facility is a new, highly advanced facility with approximately 280 employees. The right person for this position will have a desire to work with the executive team and the staff to make this facility top-notch and have a goal of being a Best Places to Work. Job Summary:
This Human Resource Business Partner will be reporting to the Plant Manager. This position serves as a part of the Executive Team at the Phoenix Facility and is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support throughout the employee life cycle. This role partners with plant leadership to implement HR strategies, support workforce planning, maintain compliance, and foster a positive, engaging, and productive work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Impact and drive the employee engagement for the facility. The goal is to make this facility a “Best Place” for the employees of the organization.
Push for positive interaction with the employees. Be the face of the organization for the employees. Manage the communication and interpretation of the “message.”
Handle the recruiting process, including recruitment activities, screening, interviewing, and brand enhancement.
Act as the liaison between management and employees, addressing disputes, conducting investigations, proposing ideas for improvement/enhancement, documenting, and providing recommendations for resolution.
Control the performance management system, providing accurate guidance to managers and ensuring that employees understand the message.
Be the person who can answer benefits questions but are able to represent the next level Benefits person if you do not have the answer.
Identify training needs, facilitate workshops, and support employee development.
Efficiently and accurately manage payroll administration, working with managers and payroll to compile the biweekly payroll for nonexempt, hourly, and salaried employees.
Complete HR transactions and manage use of HRMS/HRIS systems.
Managing an HR Generalist to ensure that they are set up for success and can work to get things completed on time.
Maintain and update personnel files to ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
Develop, update, improve, and enforce company policies and the employee handbook.
Maintain compliance with all labor laws.
Prepare key HR KPIs and reports, including headcount, turnover, and attendance.
Assist with the workers’ comp program. Along with the safety team, ensure that training, auditing, and enforcing the safety program are adhered to.
Ensure HR availability for all shifts, including occasional support for off‑shift employees.
Lead or participate in both Plant and Corporate HR projects that support business objectives.
Qualifications & Competencies:
Degree in Business, HR, Finance, or Communications, or relevant HR hands-on experience.
Four (4+) plus years of HR Leadership experience in a Manufacturing / Plant environment.
Ability to build strong relationships and credibility with employees at all levels.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable being the face to the employees and representing them in executive meetings.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a strong plus.
Experience within a Plant Manufacturing environment is crucial to success in this role.
Strong skills with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
Drive to enhance an employee engagement program and continue to improve the employee experience.
Strong working knowledge of payroll laws and state/federal pay requirements.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Strong Financial acumen. Comfortable reviewing data and making business decisions based on your information.
Proactive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
