About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its Park District. The successful candidate will be the chief executive officer, responsible for the administration, planning, and operation of all district functions. This role involves providing strategic leadership, implementing board policy, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality parks, facilities, and recreation services in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner. The Executive Director will also oversee financial management, lead and mentor senior staff, and foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven organizational culture. Community engagement, innovation, and responsiveness to evolving recreational needs are key aspects of the position.

Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in public parks and recreation, municipal government, or a nonprofit organization. The role requires significant senior-level leadership experience, expertise in budgeting, capital development, personnel management, and strategic planning. Strong communication, interpersonal, and public engagement skills are essential. Knowledge of park district law, governance practices, and labor relations is highly desirable, and professional certification in parks and recreation is preferred.
