The primary responsibilities of the Director of Business Finance is to ensure accurate and dependable fiscal management and accounting procedures for the school district.

Qualifications

Education: Accounting Degree or equivalent degree

Experience: Work in a Nebraska School District Finance Office Supervisory role preferred

Other Requirements

Accounting experience and knowledge

Computerized accounting system and Excel spreadsheet knowledge and experience

Ability to communicate and lead effectively and supervise/direct staff

School business knowledge

Effective leadership style

Strong oral and written communication skills

Provides and leads customer service to school employees

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Business Services

Supervises

Coordinator of Purchasing and Accounting

Accounting Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist

Payroll Specialists

Responsibilities

Dependable and reliable attendance

Exercises ethical, trustworthy, and confidential behaviors

Serve as a supervising administrator of the Business department and help provide a positive, supportive culture and strong communication within the department and stakeholders

Supervises function and personnel of the Business Finance Office

Serves on the Superintendent Staff administrative team

Assists Assistant Superintendent with the development of the budget and long-range financial planning

Stays up to date with all state and federal requirements for financials, benefits, purchasing/procurement, accounting, and other practices related to school finance

Train other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources

Coordinates annual district audit

Supervises the development of the Annual Financial Report

Ensure proper training of finance staff

Assists with development and review of Board Policies related to finances, accounting, and purchasing

Management of District’s benefits and insurance programs

Maintains District’s accounting system for budgets, payrolls, and purchasing systems

Quarterly and Annual Tax Reporting

Monthly retirement reporting

Garnishments of wages as directed by courts

School store monitoring

W2/ 1095 processing

Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services
