The Opportunity As a Press Assistant, you will support the Printing Press team by performing daily printing, production, and material‑handling tasks. You will help ensure the press runs efficiently by assisting with make‑readies, plate and ink changes, and the movement of materials. This role plays an important part in maintaining product quality, supporting press uptime, and ensuring compliance with all safety, SQF, and workplace policies.

How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock

Follow direction from the Press Operator to support safe and efficient press operation.

Assist with make‑ready procedures, including plate changes, ink changes, and blanket changes.

Load and deliver board to and from the printing press as needed.

Perform preventative maintenance and support routine equipment care.

Conduct quality control checks to ensure printing standards are met.

Properly dispose of printing waste in accordance with company and environmental guidelines.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to press operation.

Resupply pressroom materials and inventory as needed.

Follow all safety rules and compliance requirements, including SQF and PPE standards.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs.

Qualifications What You Need to Succeed

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand the full printing process.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

Cut‑resistant gloves

Hairnet and beard net (as required)

Hard hat (when required)

Essential Skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Basic computer skills; familiarity with Windows‑based software.

Ability to obtain required certifications:

Pallet Jack Certification

Forklift Certification

Roll Clamp Truck Certification
