Organization and Mission
We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, forward-thinking individual to serve as a key member within the Office of Communications of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Our organization aims to license efficiently, regulate fairly, and serve stakeholders including professionals and their customers across a range of regulated industries.

Your Specific Responsibilities
This is a highly responsible, professional position that provides support to the Office of Communications under the direction of the Deputy Communications Director. Duties include, but may be limited to:
Drafting written communication for social media, newsletters, articles and related items; aiding with managing department external affairs and outreach initiatives; including writing executive-level speeches for individuals representing the agency; assisting in updating the department’s intranet and external website. Work with the Communications Director and Deputy Communications Director to research, craft, develop, and implement an Integrated Communications Plan to advance the Department’s brand identity, broaden awareness, and increase visibility of the Department’s mission, programs, and priorities across key stakeholder audiences.
Working on special projects as assigned by the Office of the Secretary, including booklets, partnerships, videos; planning and executing internal and external events, including conferences, expos, and panel discussions; facilitating partnerships with large groups/organizations to maximize outreach and reinforce goals/initiatives.
Serving as Public Information Officer (PIO) for joint sting operations by the Division of Regulation with other agencies; signing and routing sting operation forms; updating the Division of Regulation’s Unlicensed Activity webpage; drafting press releases regarding the Division’s efforts. Producing promotional, educational, instructional, and informational material regarding agency or division programs, including Unlicensed Activity. Contributing to improvement of the Department’s media outreach to amplify agency values and messages.
Assisting with answering media calls, gathering information, preparing reports, and daily administrative activities. Tracking and reporting content effectiveness metrics to internal stakeholders, and monitoring and tuning messaging to maximize impact.
Assisting with development of strategy and plans for proactive and reactive communications related to media and agency social media channels; drafting written communication for social media, newsletters, and related items; aiding with managing department external affairs and outreach initiatives; including writing speeches for individuals representing the agency; updating the department’s intranet and external website.
Creating and editing graphics for use in internal and external newsletters, brochures, events, etc. to enhance overall communications efforts and goals of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, InDesign).
Proficient in social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
Proficient in Canva Pro.
Experience in the design and layout of magazines, newspapers, or flyers.
Must be reliable, have a professional appearance, and a positive attitude.
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
One (1) year of professional work experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or a comparable field of study.
Experience using publishing software programs like Adobe Creative Suite, Lightroom and InDesign.
Preferred
Ability to speak and write Spanish is a plus, though not required.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is preferred. Professional experience in communications, or a closely related field, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
