Director of Operations – Mechanical Construction - Power Generation (Single Cycle & Combined Cycle)
We are seeking an experienced
Director of Operations
to lead and oversee the delivery of large-scale
single cycle and combined cycle power generation projects
across the United States. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence across multiple mechanical construction projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution from pre-construction through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities Lead operations for mechanical construction projects within gas turbine (simple cycle) and combined cycle power plants Oversee project execution across multiple sites, ensuring delivery on schedule, budget, and quality targets Provide strategic direction and leadership to Project Managers, Construction Managers, and site teams Drive EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) performance and a strong safety culture across all projects Manage client relationships with major utilities, EPCs, and developers Support pre-construction planning, resource allocation, and risk management Ensure alignment with company objectives, operational standards, and best practices Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost optimisation
Requirements Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role within power generation or heavy industrial construction Strong background delivering single cycle and/or combined cycle gas turbine projects Deep understanding of mechanical scopes (e.g. piping, turbines, HRSGs, balance of plant) Track record of managing multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations Strong commercial awareness, including contracts, budgeting, and cost control Exceptional leadership and team development skills Willingness to travel
