Executive Director
to lead facility operations, drive performance, and ensure regulatory excellence.
Position Summary The Executive Director is responsible for the
overall leadership, operations, and financial performance
of a primary substance use disorder treatment center. This role oversees all departments including clinical, nursing, operations, admissions, and support services, ensuring high-quality care delivery and full compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership of an inpatient SUD treatment facility Oversee multidisciplinary teams including Clinical, Nursing, Admissions, BHTs, and Support Staff Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and high performance Partner with corporate leadership on growth initiatives and operational improvements Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with
state licensing, Medicaid regulations, and federal guidelines Maintain readiness for
Joint Commission and/or CARF accreditation surveys Implement and monitor policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards Oversee incident reporting, risk management, and quality assurance programs Financial Performance Manage facility budget, census, and financial KPIs Drive census growth and optimize payer mix within Medicaid framework Partner with RCM and Admissions to improve collections and authorization outcomes Monitor expenses and implement cost-control strategies Clinical & Program Oversight Collaborate with Clinical Director to ensure delivery of evidence-based care Support program development across detox, residential, and step-down levels of care Ensure strong clinical documentation and utilization review processes Team Development & HR Recruit, hire, and develop department leaders and staff Provide coaching, performance management, and succession planning Ensure appropriate staffing ratios and scheduling for 24/7 operations Community & Referral Development Build relationships with hospitals, referral sources, and community partners Support outreach and marketing initiatives to drive admissions Represent the organization within the local behavioral health community Qualifications Required 5+ years of
behavioral health operations leadership experience 3+ years in a
senior leadership role (Executive Director, Program Director, or equivalent) Experience in an
inpatient substance use disorder treatment setting Strong knowledge of
Medicaid-funded programs and reimbursement structures Proven track record of managing
census, budgets, and multi-department teams Experience with
state licensing and regulatory compliance
