Mid- to Senior-Level Associate – Real Estate Transactions
An international law firm with an established real estate practice is seeking a
mid-level to senior associate
to join its real estate transactions group. The team advises private equity sponsors, real estate investment managers, developers, institutional investors, and financial institutions on complex real estate investments and financings.
Practice Overview
The practice handles a broad range of real estate transactions across the lifecycle of an investment, including structuring investments, acquisitions, financings, development, recapitalizations, and dispositions. Attorneys regularly advise on a variety of equity and debt structures used by institutional real estate investors.
The group represents both
lenders and borrowers
in real estate finance matters, including:
Mortgage and mezzanine financings Construction and development loans Acquisition and bridge loans Portfolio credit facilities Loan purchases, sales, and restructurings Intercreditor and participation arrangements Structuring and negotiating real estate joint venture and co-investment arrangements Advising on development partnerships and investment platforms Portfolio investments and recapitalizations Preferred equity and other structured equity investments
Transactions span multiple asset classes, including
office, multifamily, industrial, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use properties .
Responsibilities
Draft and negotiate
joint venture agreements, partnership agreements, and LLC operating agreements Represent lenders and borrowers in
real estate financing transactions Work on
acquisitions and dispositions
of real estate assets and portfolios Assist with
development transactions and recapitalizations Manage diligence and closing processes
Qualifications
4–7+ years of experience
in real estate transactions at an AmLaw 200 law firm or sophisticated real estate finance boutique Experience with some combination of
joint ventures, real estate finance, and acquisitions/dispositions Strong drafting and negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple transactions JD and bar admission (or eligibility) in NYC or the relevant jurisdiction U.S. work authorization
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex real estate transactions with institutional investors, sponsors, and lenders across a range of asset classes.
Base salary will be $260,000-$445,000, depending on seniority.
Note that the firm will also consider associates sitting in Boston, D.C. or certain other offices (but not remote).
