As a Senior Claims Consultant, you will investigate, evaluate, and negotiate high‑severity claims. Your work supports management liability and specialty lines such as surety liability, error and omissions, directors and officers, and employment practices liability. Key Responsibilities
Investigate and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages to set a claim strategy, settlement, and file reserves for serious and complex claims. Provide timely evaluation of claims to identify and manage reserves in line with company standards. Deliver outstanding customer service through effective interactions with insureds, agents, and legal counsel. Develop, coach, train, and mentor team members; serve as subject‑matter authority in specialty line claims; design training plans for the division. Maintain current knowledge of coverage lines, venue‑specific court decisions, guidelines, and policy changes. Provide feedback on claim trends and contribute to underwriting reviews. Support collaboration by demonstrating teamwork, motivation, positive behavior, and goal achievement. Offer top‑level consultation to claims leadership, peers, and business partners on severe specialty claim issues, coverage, and risks. Recommend changes to business leadership; provide implementation strategies and coordinate product development processes. Standardize processes for claims handling related to new products; assist in developing business plans for claims quality. Manage associate performance, salary planning, training, workflow, staffing, and disciplinary actions. Reporting Relationships
Reports to Claims Director or Associate Vice President. Typical Skills And Experiences
College degree preferred. Juris Doctorate desired. Ten years of prior insurance experience preferred. Proven experience investigating and resolving severe complex litigated claims. Extensive knowledge of insurance contracts, coverage issues, and litigation management. License / Certification / Designation
Associates must acquire required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the designated timeframe. Additional licenses may be required for new products. Completion of courses such as IIA, AEI, or CPCU preferred. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
Strong analytical skills for independent decision-making; experience coordinating defense counsel; excellent verbal and written communication; organizational skills; computer proficiency with claims and business software. Values
