Purpose Responsible for advancing Messenger International’s vision by cultivating meaningful, trust-based relationships with major and mid-level donors, ensuring they are well-informed, engaged, and connected to the mission and impact of the ministry.
Primary Outcomes
Maintains strong donor retention and growth within assigned portfolio, as measured by renewal rate, upgraded giving, and expanded partnership
Executes donor engagement plans resulting in consistent, timely, and meaningful donor touchpoints across the portfolio
Expands assigned portfolio through proactive research, qualification, and onboarding of new qualified major and mid-level donors
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and nurture a portfolio primarily consisting of major donors with some mid-level donors as assigned
Develop and implement individualized engagement plans designed to strengthen donor connection and long-term involvement
Conduct donor meetings (primarily virtual), phone calls, and written communications to cultivate meaningful relationships
Clearly and compellingly communicate ministry vision, initiatives, funding opportunities, and impact stories
Invite financial partnership in a thoughtful and relationship-centered manner
Provide consistent and proactive stewardship, including gratitude, impact reporting and follow‑up communication
Identify opportunities to increase donor engagement through upgraded giving, recurring gifts or expanded partnership
Maintain accurate and timely donor records in CRM systems, including contact reports and next steps
Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, finance and leadership to ensure donor communications are accurate, aligned and timely
Represent Messenger International with professionalism and warmth in all donor interactions
Participate in ministry events and occasional in‑person donor meetings as needed
Uphold confidentiality and exercise discretion regarding donor information and giving records
Other related work, as assigned
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, ministry or related field preferred
3–5 years of experience in fundraising, major gifts, relationship management, sales or business development required
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining long‑term client or donor relationships preferred
General Qualifications
Strong relational intelligence and ability to build trust across diverse audiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to clearly articulate organizational mission and impact
Strong organizational and time‑management skills
Self‑motivated and proactive with strong follow‑through
High degree of professionalism, discretion and ethical conduct
High levels of professional discretion
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
Ability to work independently in primarily virtual environment

Job Type/Schedule Full‑time, 40‑hour work week with occasional overtime. This is a non‑exempt position and is subject to overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Pay This role has a salary range of
$26.50 – $31.25 / hour , depending on qualifications and experience.
