Education LevelHigh School## DescriptionJob Summary & Position RationaleThe Outreach Specialist plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Education and Leadership Foundation (ELF) by building trust and awareness across diverse communities. This position focuses on expanding access to ELF’s programs—including tax preparation, summer/winter camp, afterschool support, recycling services, Know Your Rights education, and other special projects—through culturally responsive outreach, education, and program coordination.Outreach Specialists engage directly with community members through door-to-door canvassing, tabling, phone banking, and public events, often in dynamic environments, including high-traffic areas and outdoor settings in extreme weather. This role supports not only public engagement, but also the operational and administrative components that ensure effective program delivery. Ideal candidates are friendly, proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to empowering underserved communities across Fresno and surrounding counties.By serving as a connector, advocate, and frontline presence in the community, the Outreach Specialist helps ensure that individuals and families are informed, welcomed, and supported in accessing resources that promote equity, dignity, and opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities**Outreach, Community & Networking*** Lead and support outreach activities as assigned.* Present ELF program information at events and in group or one-on-one settings, including topics such as tax preparation, afterschool programs, summer camps, and Know Your Rights presentations.* Support door-to-door outreach, canvassing, and tabling to engage the community and promote ELF services.* Assist in planning and executing ELF-led events, workshops, and program-specific outreach, including activities related to recycling centers and educational campaigns.* Adapt outreach strategies based on team direction and community feedback to better serve diverse populations.* Participate in community events held outdoors or indoors, including during extreme weather conditions (e.g., high heat in Fresno summers).**Information & Referral*** Serve as a connector for families and individuals by providing relevant resources and accurate referrals to ELF programs and community partners.* Maintain updated knowledge of ELF services, including tax assistance, afterschool programming, environmental initiatives, legal education, and seasonal events.**Data Collection & Reporting*** Accurately track and report outreach metrics using designated data entry tools.* Ensure timely and organized record-keeping for all outreach activities, client interactions, and referrals.**Program Support & Administration*** Help maintain shared office and outreach materials, including printed resources, workshop supplies, etc.* Provide program support as instructed by completing various tasks across various ELF programs and/or initiatives. These tasks can include but are not limited to: working at our summer/winter camp, preparing taxes at our tax clinics, supervising children at our afterschool programming, supporting our recycling efforts, presenting at various ELF programs such as know your rights (KYRs) workshops or community events, etc.* Assist with operational and administrative tasks including event preparation, logistics coordination, file organization, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.* Support internal communication and coordination efforts to ensure program activities as assigned to support community and organization initiatives.## Qualifications**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*** High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)* Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation* Bilingual (English/Spanish) with strong written and verbal communication skills* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)* Strong interpersonal skills, with a friendly and community-first mindset* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities* Flexibility for evening and weekend work**Work Environment, Conditions & Requirements**

Work takes place in a combination of office, community, and event settings. While much of the work is performed indoors at a desk or table within a shared workspace, this position also requires regular participation in outdoor events and outreach activities, sometimes in extreme weather conditions such as the high temperatures common in and around the central valley.

Outreach Specialists must be comfortable working in a variety of environments, including indoor workshops, community centers, outdoor tabling events, canvassing neighborhoods, or setting up outreach materials in public spaces.

Noise conditions are typically moderate and may include background conversation, phone calls, and general community engagement.

The position involves both independent tasks and collaborative work with staff, volunteers, interns, or contractors.

**Physical Requirements**

Able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with staff, clients, and community members in person, over the phone, and in group settings.

Able to read and interpret written materials such as outreach flyers, schedules, program guidelines, computer screens, memos, and administrative documents.

Able to use hands and fingers to type, operate a phone or tablet, print, scan, and manage outreach or office materials.

Able to sit or stand at a desk, table, or outreach booth for extended periods.

Able to lift and carry materials such as outreach supplies, event signage, or program kits (typically up to 25 lbs).

Able to move around during community events, including walking, bending, setting up tables or tents, and standing outdoors for prolonged periods, sometimes in high heat or changing weather conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
