Private Credit Associate – Direct Lending / Asset-Based Lending, Santa Monica (Los Angeles)

About the Role H&P has been mandated by a leading private credit investment manager to appoint a
Private Credit Associate (Suitable for Analyst II/III onward) . This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, high-performing team focused on non-sponsored direct lending and asset-based lending transactions.
The firm manages approximately $2bn AUM and is actively deploying capital from an evergreen strategy, targeting complex, cash-generative opportunities across healthcare, consumer, industrials, education, and financial services. With a strong pipeline and $200m of dry powder, this hire is critical to supporting continued deployment and portfolio growth.
Position:
Private Credit Associate
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and underwrite direct lending and asset-based lending opportunities across a range of middle-market sectors
Build and maintain detailed financial models, including cash flow forecasting, downside scenarios, and collateral analysis
Analyse borrower performance and monitor portfolio investments, identifying risks and value creation opportunities
Work closely with senior team members on sourcing and assessing complex, non-sponsored transactions directly with founders and entrepreneurs
What You Bring
2–4 years’ experience within Investment Banking (Leveraged Finance) or Private Credit
Strong financial modelling and credit underwriting experience, ideally across leveraged or asset-based transactions
Experience analysing financial statements, debt structures, and credit risk
Commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to challenge ideas constructively
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
