Titus Talent Strategies, Sussex, WI, United States

Titus Talent Strategies is hiring a Benefits Specialist on behalf of our client, a growing multi-entity organization in Sussex, WI. They are in need of a Benefits Specialist to manage the health and welfare landscape across four affiliated companies. This role navigates complex benefit packages, ensures multi-entity compliance, and provides compassionate guidance to employees during significant life events. It utilizes a Captive/Self-Funded model to bridge the gap between analytical plan management and the human side of HR.

Position Overview The Benefits Specialist will not just "check the box" but will instead dive into the "puzzle" of multi-entity compliance and strategic well-being. This role will navigate two unique benefit packages across four entities, requiring both analytical depth and the ability to explain complex insurance concepts in plain English. This is a collaborative role that has a direct impact on the financial health of the companies and the physical health of their employees. They value autonomy, witty problem-solvers, and people who treat "HR Support" as a collaborative team sport.

Key Responsibilities

Support management of Captive and Self-Funded health plans, including stop-loss, claims analysis, and risk management.

Administer and maintain two distinct benefit packages across four companies, ensuring plan accuracy and data integrity.

Develop and launch programs focused on preventative health to improve employee well‑being and manage long‑term plan costs.

Coordinate and manage the annual open enrollment cycle, including employee communication, informational sessions, and enrollment support.

Compliance & Leave Management

Serve as the subject matter expert for ACA compliance, including hours tracking, offers of coverage, and 1095-C reporting.

Manage FMLA and Leave of Absence processes, guiding employees through leave requests and documentation.

Partner with benefits brokers to ensure compliance with ERISA requirements, SBC distribution, and Form 5500 filings.

Oversee COBRA administration and HIPAA privacy compliance.

Education & Employee Engagement

Conduct one‑on‑one meetings with employees who have complex benefits questions.

Deliver educational sessions such as webinars, workshops, and lunch‑and‑learns across multiple locations.

Maintain a strong presence during open enrollment and wellness initiatives.

HR Support

Partner with the HR team to support special projects, employee relations initiatives, and administrative needs as they arise.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the duties listed above.

What Success Looks Like Success in this role means maintaining the financial and physical health of their organization through proactive plan management and meaningful employee engagement. You are a trusted "translator" of benefits who manages multi‑entity puzzles with ease, ensuring all employees feel supported during their most significant life events while driving long‑term well‑being initiatives that move the needle.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, or CEBS) is a plus.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration with specific exposure to self‑funded plans.

Proven proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paycom preferred), with a focus on leveraging system capabilities to streamline benefits administration, automate workflows, and ensure multi‑entity data integrity.

Deep knowledge of Self‑Funding and Captive models, including a basic understanding of the financials around the Captive.

Demonstrated experience navigating the nuances of work‑related injuries and state‑specific filing requirements.

Proven experience managing ACA reporting, FMLA/LOA administration, and ERISA/HIPAA compliance for a mid‑to‑large‑size workforce.

Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to make complex topics like "Maximum Out‑of‑Pocket limits" interesting.
