
Lead UX/UI Designer

Travel: ~25% (train travel required; must be local to Northeast Corridor)
Role Summary
Lead UX/UI Designer on an agile team, responsible for designing user-centered applications that support train operations. Collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams to build scalable design systems and high-quality digital experiences.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years UX/UI design experience
- Strong portfolio (high-fidelity, user-centered designs)
- Expertise in design systems and reusable components
- Agile methodology experience
- Strong communication & stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency: Figma, FigJam, Jira, Confluence, prototyping & testing tools
- Ability to confidently defend design decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with rail industry or complex systems
- Enterprise/internal tools design experience
- Usability testing tools (dScout, Maze, UserTesting, UserZoom)
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design
Key Responsibilities
- Lead UX/UI design for complex applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams
- Build and maintain design systems & component libraries
- Conduct user research and usability testing
- Define and track design work in Jira
- Advocate and communicate design decisions to stakeholders
- Participate in agile ceremonies (standups, PI planning, etc.)
Additional Notes
- Hybrid role with periodic in-person collaboration
- Requires travel for workshops, research, and quarterly PI Planning
- Must be adaptable, communicative, and solutions-oriented
