Air Import Coordinator
Company/Industry: Well-established, mid-sized freight forwarder Location: Jamaica, NY Salary: Commensurate with experience + benefits Position type: Direct Hire, FT On-site Responsibilities: Processing air import transactions Handle bookings from overseas agents and importers Coordinate the move to destination Update shipment status, issue arrival notices, and obtain entry documents Arrange freight release with steamship lines and confirm cargo availability Follow up with customers by proactively informing them of status of their shipments, answering questions and referring clients to the supervisor when questions are more technical Negotiates with customers to resolve problems and troubleshoot in order to arrive at mutual agreements Monitor and provide necessary instruction for parties engaged in receiving and shipping freight, documentation, waybill, assessing charges, and collecting fees for shipments Resolves customer problems and informs supervisor of the resolutions Other functions as needed Experience and Skills: Strong air import knowledge Minimum 3-5 years of air import experience within freight forwarding industry Ability to work independently and as a team player Basic skills in MS Office applications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $55,000.00 - $70,000.00
