Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

If you have a background in storekeeping, inventory control, purchasing, or warehouse operations with a mindset for customer service and continuous improvement, an opportunity as a Property & Stores Clerk with our Administrative Services team may be the ideal opportunity for you.

This position is responsible for maintaining physical inventories, receipt, storage, distribution, and final disposition of surplus items for the Pinellas County Administrative Services Department. This position also includes responsibilities such as transferring assets in the County’s system-of-record, preparing for auctions, coordinating with the auction vendor, interacting with the public and County stakeholders, participating in the taking of monthly inventories and post auction reconciliations, inventory quality control, as well as, other related documentation. Accuracy, customer service and timeliness are essential components for this position. This position is located at the County’s Surplus Warehouse; however, minimal travel may be required within Pinellas County in order to review stored surplus items at County facilities.

What Would You Do?

Manages surplus operation based on established procedures; maintains property control.

Prepares Oracle reports for auction items: creates auction numbers.

Coordinates with auction vendor for auction preparation.

Interacts with public for distribution of sold auction items.

Receives and off-loads surplus deliveries, confirming agreement between paperwork and delivered items.

Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other light equipment in the storage and delivery of materials, supplies and parts; attends required safety and training per guidelines.

Maintains computerized inventory control system and monitors records for discrepancies.

Electronically transfers received items in County’s system-of-record.

Receiving incoming items and storing them in proper locations. This includes notifying and/or delivering items to various departments as required.

Participates in and conducts monthly, quarterly and annual physical inventories. Assists in tracking asset and non-asset materials.

Coordinates property control and disposal activities.

Assists supervisors in assembling budgets.

Interfaces with customers regarding deliveries.

Performs related work as assigned or required.

What Do You Need To Have? Experience:

Storekeeping, inventory, purchasing, or related experience that may include lead worker, supervision or supervisory training.

4 years of experience as described above.

Associate’s degree or completion of a 2 year skilled trades or technology certification and at least 2 years of experience as described above.

Bachelor’s degree or higher-level degree and have some years of experience as described above.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements

Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack and/or other motorized equipment.

Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report.

Ability to obtain a Florida Commercial Driver’s License Class B within 12 months of hire.

Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Enterprise Asset Management familiarity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of warehousing methods, safety precautions and procedures used in the receipt, inventory, storage and distribution of merchandise.

Knowledge of regulations and procedures affecting purchasing, requisitioning, store-keeping, inventory and stock or property control records.

Knowledge of different units of measurement (e.g., cases, individual units) for checking, counting, shipping, and tracking material.

Knowledge of the methods and practices used in receiving materials and supplies in warehouse deliveries.

Ability to determine the quantity and quality of goods received against prescribed specifications.

Ability to learn and be proficient in new computer applications and software.

Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling in the preparation of written records, emails, and/or other documents to ensure information is clearly presented and understood by others.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to endure long periods of standing and walking and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.

Ability to provide written information to supervisors and co-workers to keep open lines of communication.
