The company achieved 99.99% two‑qubit gate fidelity, setting a world record in 2025.

IonQ is accelerating its roadmap to deliver 2 million qubits by 2030 to accelerate innovation in drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, logistics, cybersecurity, and defense, and is a leader in building the quantum internet.

We are looking for a Senior Quantum Sales Executive to join our US Go‑To‑Market team.

The role focuses on delivering IonQ’s offerings—Quantum Hardware (Systems and Networks), Software, Applications, and Access—to a curated set of clients in HPC, AI model development, and Neocloud environments.

This is a senior individual‑contributor position with the potential to build a team downstream.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Partnerships: Develop and own executive‑level relationships (CTO, VP of Infrastructure, Head of AI Research) with Neocloud providers, HPC centers, and hyperscalers.

Pipeline Generation: Build a pipeline of sales opportunities focused on hybrid quantum‑classical architectures, integrating IonQ hardware into existing AI clusters and Exascale environments.

Secure Networking: Lead the sales of Quantum Networking solutions, targeting “Quantum‑Safe” data‑center interconnects and secure model‑training environments.

Strategic Qualification: Qualify opportunities based on technical feasibility, financial considerations, and strategic alignment with IonQ’s position in the AI/HPC industry.

Full Lifecycle Ownership: Own all sales‑cycle phases from initial architectural discovery to RFP response for government/private tenders, and final contract execution.

Internal Collaboration: Ensure support from the broader IonQ organization to pursue high‑value opportunities throughout the sales cycle.

Retention & Expansion: Partner with Customer Success post‑sale to ensure high satisfaction, drive renewals, and identify incremental revenue opportunities.

You’d be a good fit with:

Industry GTM tenure: 10+ years selling to the HPC or GPU Cloud Infrastructure industry, quota‑carrying responsibilities, and proven ability to close $10 M+ hardware or CAPEX‑heavy deals.

HPC/Analytics Infrastructure Sales: Experience selling Supercomputers, AI Accelerators (TPUs/LPUs/GPUs), or high‑speed InfiniBand/Optical networking.

Industry Network: Existing relationships within AI Labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI), Neocloud providers (Coreweave, nscale), and hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).

Category Creation: Proven ability to sell frontier infrastructure—moving beyond standard CPUs/GPUs and convincing buyers of the necessity of Quantum Acceleration.

Complex GTM Problem Solving: Ability to navigate technical complexities of data‑center integration, including cooling, power constraints, and rack‑scale deployment.

STEM Foundation: Undergraduate degree in Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant STEM field.

You’d be a great fit with:

Senior‑level relationships with key decision makers in the neocloud provider industry and/or leaders building the next generation of foundation models.

Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of the AI scaling laws and how quantum computing can address bottlenecks in training, optimization, or high‑dimensional data processing.

Quantum and AI: Knowledge of how Quantum Algorithms (e.g., QAOA, VQE) can be leveraged for neural‑network optimization or hardware‑efficient AI training.

Quantum‑Safe Networking Expertise: Experience selling high‑end cybersecurity or networking infrastructure, with an understanding of Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD).

Location This position can work onsite or hybrid from one of our offices (College Park, MD; Bothell, WA) or fully remote within the US.
