OT Cybersecurity Analyst

VC5 Consulting, The Woodlands, TX, United States

A leading energy company is building a brand-new Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity function and is seeking a skilled OT Cybersecurity Analyst to help establish and shape it from the ground up. In this role, you will implement, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity controls across field operations — ensuring secure connectivity, enforcing policy compliance, and serving as a critical first line of defense against cyber threats in an industrial environment. You will work at the intersection of IT infrastructure and Operational Technology, collaborating daily with both teams to protect the systems that keep field operations running safely and reliably. This is a rare greenfield opportunity to build something meaningful in a cloud-forward, Microsoft-centric environment where your expertise will directly define the security posture of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity controls and technologies across field operations to ensure ongoing protection of critical OT assets.

Serve as the primary first responder for cybersecurity incidents in the field, performing technical triage, root cause analysis, and coordinating rapid remediation efforts.

Ensure secure connectivity for field operations and validate compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements.

Bridge the technical gap between IT infrastructure and Operational Technology teams, translating complex security requirements into actionable guidance for field personnel.

Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities across the security posture of field and OT environments, staying current on emerging threats targeting industrial systems.

Communicate technical risks, findings, and remediation plans clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements:

Hands‑on experience working within a field operations or industrial controls department, with direct exposure to OT or IC environments.

Demonstrated ability to perform threat detection and security analysis in operational technology environments, including SCADA, industrial control systems, or IoT‑connected assets.

Proven experience acting as a first responder during cybersecurity incidents, including technical triage and root cause analysis for recurring security issues.

Comfort and confidence working in a greenfield environment where security infrastructure must be designed and deployed from scratch.

Strong ability to align cybersecurity controls with the specific operational needs of field environments, balancing security rigor with operational continuity.

Experience in the Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Manufacturing sectors is a strong plus, as is familiarity with drilling site technology and mobile data infrastructure.

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Location: The Woodlands, Texas 77380

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

If you have a passion for protecting critical infrastructure and are ready to make a foundational impact on an emerging OT security program, we encourage you to apply.
