Salary: $23.00 an hour.

Your Team MAG's Communications Division provides strategic direction and technical expertise to guide the internal and external communication and public engagement efforts of the agency. The team serves as a hub for content engagement and agency information dissemination with stakeholders and member agencies. It supports the core work of transportation, environmental, and human services with public engagement in technical studies and public outreach, ensuring adherence to public meeting guidelines through presentations and public postings, supporting member agencies with strategic message dissemination and facilitating administrative internal messaging.
What You Do The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) is seeking a self-motivated, analytical and detail-oriented intern to support the Communications Division in strengthening data-driven communication strategies.
This position focuses on analyzing digital communication performance, improving website usability and search visibility and developing dashboards that help staff evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives.
Key responsibilities include gathering and analyzing data from website analytics platforms, identifying opportunities to improve website navigation and content performance, assisting with search engine optimization (SEO) initiatives and helping develop internal dashboards that translate data into actionable insights for decision-making.
Assignments may include reviewing website content and structure to support optimization efforts, analyzing audience engagement trends across digital channels, supporting the organization of digital content resources and presenting findings or recommendations to internal teams.
As the Digital Communications Intern you may also assist in identifying existing MAG resources such as reports, maps, videos and meeting materials that can be organized or repurposed to improve website accessibility and support strategic communication efforts.
Preferred Skills The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
Proficiency in analyzing digital performance data and identifying trends that inform communication strategies.
Familiarity with website analytics platforms such as Google Analytics and Looker Studio.
Basic understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) principles, including keyword usage, metadata and content structure.
Ability to assist with the creation or maintenance of data dashboards and visualizations that communicate insights clearly.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in digital content.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and website publishing workflows.
Ability to organize and maintain digital content libraries, including reports, datasets, maps and multimedia assets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for summarizing findings and presenting insights to internal teams.
Ability to collaborate with staff across departments to support communication initiatives and organizational goals.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.
Willingness to take on special assignments and adapt to evolving priorities.
Experience And Education Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must demonstrate one of the following: Be actively engaged in coursework related to communications, data analytics, digital media, marketing, information science, or a related field at a qualified university or college.
Proof of training or certification in communications, analytics, digital marketing, or related disciplines.
Have relevant work or internship experience in communications, analytics, digital media, or data analysis.
