Sheet Metal Estimator
Jobot, Las Vegas, NV, United States
Job Summary
Sheet Metal Estimator – HVAC/Ductwork – West Coast Leading Subcontractor. Salary: $20 – $25/hr.
A Bit About Us A privately held HVAC sheet‑metal manufacturer based in Southern California. We produce rectangular, round/spiral, and flat‑oval duct and fittings, along with welded grease duct and specialty components for exhaust and dust‑collection systems. With a multi‑site footprint across the Western U.S. and beyond, we support mechanical contractors with quick‑turn stock options and around‑the‑clock deliveries for project work. Our modern fabrication platform features multiple coil lines, spiral machines, CNC laser and plasma cutting, spiral elbow forming, and robotic welding. We offer extensive material capability and industry‑standard connection systems to deliver everything from fast‑track TI packages to large, multi‑phase institutional, commercial, and industrial scopes.
Why Join Us? We’re a regional leader in sheet metal & duct fabrication that’s scaling fast and investing heavily in people, process, and technology.
Hands‑on mentorship, modern tools, and exposure to high‑visibility commercial, healthcare, and campus builds across the Western U.S.
A deep backlog, complex projects, and a culture that promotes merit and mastery.
Growth path: Clear steps to Senior Estimator or Project Management roles.
Competitive pay + 100 % paid benefits: full package including PTO and 401(k) with 4 % match.
Job Responsibilities
Own the fundamentals of takeoff on ductwork and accessories: read plans/specs, quantify materials & labor, build clean estimate worksheets.
Contribute to live bids with senior estimator review; assist in preparing scopes, alternates, and inclusions/exclusions.
Partner with fabrication, PM, and field to validate production hours and logistics so estimates reflect actual build.
Use modern tools—Bluebeam and Excel—and learn leading sheet‑metal estimating platforms as provided by training.
What You’ll Learn
Fabrication‑first estimating: how shop standards, production rates, and installation logistics drive cost.
Project flow: RFIs, VE options, and bid‑day strategy with GCs/owners.
Data hygiene & speed: templates and assemblies that make your numbers trusted by operations.
Career Path Advance from Estimator I → Estimator II → Senior Estimator, with options to specialize (healthcare/DSA/campus), mentor interns, or pivot into precon or PM.
Qualifications
0–2 years in construction (internships, shop/field time, design/drafting, or estimating experience) or a related degree/certificate (CM, ME/MEP, drafting, or welding/fab).
Curiosity about how things are made; reverse‑engineer drawings and tighten assumptions.
Beginner proficiency with Bluebeam and Excel; exposure to any MEP/sheet‑metal estimating tool is a plus.
Clear, concise communication—and not afraid to ask “why.”
