Position Description Conduct Architectural analysis, provide input and perform technical reviews, mitigate potential architectural design risks, identify and solve architecture construction challenges, and generate optimization opportunities for pursuit and execution of design-build and design-bid-build systems projects.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

Perform technical reviews of projects to assess constructability, examine design details, perform quantity takeoffs, and recommend construction sequencing and logistics and provide architectural analysis.

Review and evaluate project specific designs from architectural standpoint, program intent, contractual obligations, division of responsibilities, and deliverables.

Review and assess project documentation such as drawings, basis of design documents, specifications, reports, and shop drawings related to architecture.

Examine documents for compliance with local or national code requirements.

Perform ADA and barrier-free reviews of design documents.

Propose potential solutions to Design/Construction team for design optimization, challenges, and constructability improvements related to architecture.

Evaluate and provide guidance for project non-conformances and operations issues.

Establish constructive and effective relationships with internal/external project team members, subcontractors, and clients to facilitate understanding and influence design and project development.

Work in partnership with linked design disciplines to improve the coordination of design concepts (e.g. geotechnical, structural, code-compliance, building envelope and façade, MEFP, vertical transportation, acoustics, and fire).

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree from accredited and credentialed degree program in Architecture with 4 years of industry experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience

American Institute of Architecture® (AIA) licensed or in pursuit of certification, required

Design experience in diverse array of projects through all phases of design and construction with focus on all architectural elements, required

Think and write in highly structured manner with creativity to develop specialized solutions and anticipating potential challenges and opportunities, required

Architectural products and costs knowledge

U.S. building design codes and material specific standards experience

Peer reviews and due diligence studies experience

Effective and clear verbal and written communication skills

Enjoy working in professional interdisciplinary team environment

Demonstrate commitment to continue to develop in area of expertise and awareness of industry innovations

Design software for design analysis, general collaboration software (e.g. Bluebeam Studio) and operation of 3D and BIM software (e.g. Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and SketchUp)

Physical Demands Physical demands described: Must be able to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use passenger hoists, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction. Vision required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjust focus. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Sit, talk, hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight.

Work Environment Regular work on construction site: exposure to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock. Noise usually moderate to very loud.

The annual salary range for this role in the NYC area is $125,000–$195,000. Final compensation within this range is determined based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skills, experience, certifications, and location. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
