Job Title: Electrical Designer (Level 3)
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Type: Contract
Compensation: $40.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Collaborate with project teams to understand design requirements and objectives
Develop physical designs producing 3D models and design drawings, including system layouts
Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD) to create and modify electrical drawings
Maintain proficiency in design software and stay updated on software enhancements, or other applications
Ensure that electrical designs adhere to industry standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements
Conduct code reviews and updates as necessary
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and architects, to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs
Address design-related issues and provide design solutions
Create and maintain organized documentation of electrical designs, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs)
Prepare technical reports and documentation for project deliverables
Perform site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability
Perform quality checks and reviews of electrical designs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project goals
Requirements
Requires 7+ years of heavy industrial experience
Experience as an Electrical Designer or a similar role, with proficiency in CAD software
Familiarity with electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality designs
Ability to collaborate within a team and with project stakeholdersAbility to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors
