Director of Insurance Carrier Relations & Licensing

Position Summary We at NavSav are searching for a highly motivated Director of Carrier Relations & Compliance who would be responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s carrier partnerships, licensing operations, and regulatory compliance programs. This leadership role ensures the development and maintenance of strong, strategic relationships with insurance carriers across surplus lines, commercial lines, and personal lines markets. The Director ensures that the organization and its agents operate in full compliance with all applicable Department of Insurance (DOI) regulations and state and federal laws.

This position combines strategic leadership, operational management, and regulatory oversight. The Director provides mentorship to the carrier relations and licensing teams, drives process improvements, supports mergers and acquisitions carrier integrations, and ensures adherence to all licensing and compliance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide leadership, direction, and performance management to the carrier relations and licensing teams.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with insurance carriers in surplus lines, commercial lines, and personal lines markets.

Evaluate, select, and onboard new carrier partners aligned with organizational strategy and growth initiatives.

Oversee carrier integrations related to mergers and acquisitions.

Organize, attend, and lead carrier meetings and performance reviews.

Analyze carrier reports, including month-end reporting, to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.

Ensure proper onboarding and offboarding of licenses for agents and entities.

Maintain oversight of carrier access, appointment management, and credentialing processes.

Ensure organizational compliance with all Department of Insurance (DOI) regulations and applicable state and federal insurance laws.

Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary process updates.

Develop, document, and implement internal controls and job aids to support ongoing compliance and operational excellence.

Collaborate with underwriting, legal, finance, operations, and executive leadership to ensure seamless cross-functional coordination.

Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on carrier management best practices and compliance requirements.

Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies related to carrier relationships and regulatory exposure.

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

Represent the organization professionally with carriers, regulators, and external partners.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in carrier relations, licensing, or compliance within the insurance industry.

Demonstrated experience working with surplus lines, commercial lines, and personal lines insurance carriers.

Strong working knowledge of Department of Insurance (DOI) regulations and multi-state compliance requirements.

Experience managing regulatory filings, licensing renewals, and carrier appointments.

Proven leadership and team management experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.

High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
