Job Overview CBS News’ Growth & Engagement team is hiring a digital producer! This role is responsible for producing and clipping videos for YouTube and CBSNews.com, writing articles, sending push alerts and reacting to breaking news across platforms. The ideal candidate is a skilled video content creator who can make quick‑turn videos, pitch creative story ideas and meet deadlines. They should have strong editorial judgment, be comfortable making real‑time decisions, coordinate across departments when needed, and have a knack for compelling, SEO‑friendly headlines. Hours are Tuesday–Saturday from 7a‑3p ET; candidates may work out of New York City or Los Angeles and are expected to work some holidays and shift the schedule as needed.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Clip live news coverage, special reports and more from CBS News 24/7 in real time
Run daily live streams, curate and optimize CBS News’ YouTube channels, and write your own original SEO‑friendly headlines and descriptions for all videos
Create original long and short‑form video content, identifying broadcast or stream segments to package for our YouTube audiences
Identify CBS News archives to resurface, working closely with executive producers, rights & clearances, legal and standards teams to ensure content is cleared for publication
Write clear, concise, accurate and error‑free app, web, Apple News and OTT push alerts that can be sent out successfully to a wide audience without revisions
Write CBSNews.com articles across a wide array of topics, as needed
Contribute to G&E reports distributed across various verticals and platforms, identifying traffic patterns and sharing suggestions on how to grow traffic
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in a digital breaking news environment with proven ability to react quickly as news develops
Familiarity with Adobe Premiere editing software
Strong writing and self‑editing skills, able to move quickly and with precision
Experience with analytics platforms such as Adobe, Chartbeat, YouTube Studio, etc.
Ability to craft compelling headlines and descriptions following SEO best practices
Additional Information Hiring Salary Range: $82,500.00 – $90,000.00. The salary range applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state and most other geographies. Starting pay depends on geographic location, market demands, experience, training and education. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO, among others.
