The Quality Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company-wide quality management system (QMS) to ensure all construction projects meet regulatory, client, and internal standards. This role drives continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and compliance across all operational units, fostering a culture of quality and accountability. Experience performing Industrial Projects (Chemical, Pulp & Paper and Heavy Industrial).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute the corporate quality strategy aligned with business goals
Lead cross‑functional teams to promote quality awareness and performance
Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills; convey information in a clear, focused, and concise manner
Demonstrated experience working as part of a team
Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing multiple projects simultaneously; significant demonstrated experience and knowledge of training, developing and managing people
Quality Management System (QMS)
Review and update as required, implement, and maintain QMS tailored to construction operations
Ensure consistent application and compliance with quality standards across all projects and regions
Writes, revises, and maintains Quality Manual. Provides input on staffing levels based on quality requirements
Maintains database of individuals, testing dates, and other relevant requirements
Compliance & Auditing
Oversee internal and external audits, inspections, and certifications
Ensure compliance with internal QMS, Client Quality requirements, codes, standards, and client specifications
Project Oversight
Collaborate with project managers and site quality managers to integrate quality controls per the QMS and site‑specific requirements
Monitor project execution to identify and resolve quality issues proactively
Effectively manage employees as necessary to ensure successful performance by the department
Evaluate decisions related to Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes
Manage decisions related to sub‑fabricator and third‑party inspection agencies, code conformance, quality issues, and to QA/QC personnel
Training & Development
Develop and deliver training programs on quality standards, procedures, and tools
Mentor quality managers and site personnel to build a high‑performing quality team
Reporting & Analytics
Establish KPIs and dashboards to track quality performance and trends
Report findings and recommendations to executive leadership
Continuous Improvement
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action initiatives
Champion a proactive and collaborative overall approach in adhering to the QMS at a site level and at an overall enterprise level
Minimum Qualifications
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
A minimum of 10 years in an industrial construction craft work or quality management system
At least 5 years' experience directly supporting the QA/QC function
Expert knowledge with testing equipment, calibration, and interpretation of testing results
Heavy emphasis on leadership ability and strong internal/external communications
Computer skills in Windows based software systems
Good knowledge of governmental regulatory guidelines relating to industry
Preparing for, representing the company during, and following up on observations after, customer audits in order to meet customer requirements and maintain customer satisfaction
Managing document control process in accordance with applicable standards
Required to have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Knowledge of construction including material, methods, plans and specifications, associated safety requirements
Perform calculations using algebra, trigonometry, and geometry
Able and willing to work flexible schedules including weekends as required to support the project requirements
Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
Operation of computers MS Office and other applicable programs
Determining disposition, root cause and corrective action in case of nonconforming product or other customer issues to ensure customer satisfaction and minimize recurring quality problems; manage customer concerns
Education and Experience
A minimum of 10 years of Industrial Construction craft work or quality management system
American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT)
ASME Certification and knowledge
