Job Summary:

Battle Ground Academy, a college preparatory school for students in grades PreK-12, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Volleyball Program Director and Varsity Head Volleyball Coach to lead our high-performing volleyball program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the court, with a proven track record of coaching success at the high school, club, or collegiate level. Applicants should exhibit astute coaching skills and a commitment to support and nurture “Character, Scholarship, Excellence” on the field and in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage all aspects of the Volleyball program, including coaching (Upper School), training, and mentorship

Develop and implement game strategies, practice plans, and conditioning programs that align with the school’s values and athletic goals.

Foster a positive, competitive, and supportive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success.

Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff, and other staff to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded program.

Manage team logistics, including scheduling, travel arrangements, and communication with parents and administration.

Attract, retain, and develop student-athletes for long-term success in volleyball and life.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Significant experience coaching volleyball at the high school, club, or collegiate level (head coaching experience preferred).

Strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and conditioning methods.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes to achieve their best on the court and in the classroom.

Dedication to fostering a relational culture of respect, accountability, and hard work.

Willingness to attend coaching clinics, professional development opportunities, and additional training to stay current in the sport.

Other Skills:

Experience in strength and conditioning, injury prevention, or related areas is a bonus.

Flexibility to assist with other school-related responsibilities, such as teaching or mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience coaching at the varsity or club level with a track record of success.

Experience managing a volleyball program from the middle to high school level.

Experience attracting, retaining, and developing high school volleyball players.

Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.

USA Volleyball Coach Certification (such as CAP I or CAP II) is a plus.
