About Camp Barney Medintz
Camp Barney Medintz is the summer overnight camp of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. It is located on 540 beautiful acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just 75 miles N.E. of Atlanta. “Camp Barney” serves over 1250 children, ages 7-16, and 400 staff from coast to coast each summer, since 1963.

We are seeking a Camper Kitchen Director who is passionate about food, education, and working with children in a fun camp environment. The ideal candidate is an effective leader who can confidently supervise a small team (this position oversees three staff members) while maintaining a safe, organized, and well‑managed kitchen classroom.
Seasonal - May 21st - Aug 1st 2026
Location - Cleveland, GA

Role And Responsibilities
Coordinate and lead the Old City Camper Kitchen program, supervising daily cooking activities for campers
Guide groups of campers in preparing recipes such as bagels, cakes, cookies, and traditional Jewish dishes
Ensure a safe kitchen environment, with strong attention to physical safety, food handling, allergies, and dietary needs
Supervise, support and train a team of 3 kitchen assistants
Manage kitchen supplies, maintain inventory, and ensure proper storage and labeling of food ingredients
Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑run kitchen space and equipment
Develop fun, creative cooking experiences that are appropriate for the age and ability of campers
Be a positive role model and build meaningful relationships with campers and staff
Work as part of a camp community with a strong emphasis on Jewish values
Qualifications And Education Requirements
Experience working with children
Supervisory or leadership experience
Experience with cooking, baking, or food education programs - preferred
Strong awareness of food safety, allergies, and dietary needs
Creative, organized, and enthusiastic
College graduate or currently enrolled - preferred
