Outside Sales Representative

Gulf Material Sales, LLC is a leading distributor of highway safety equipment serving the construction, transportation, and infrastructure markets. We supply highway contractors, Departments of Transportation, Municipalities, and Counties with top-quality products that keep our roadways and work zones safe; including Crash Cushions, Truck Mounted Attenuators, work zone safety equipment, delineators, Road Weather Information Systems, barriers, and Portable Traffic Signals.

Position Summary:

The Outside Sales Representative will manage and grow sales within their assigned territory. This position is responsible for developing long-term relationships with customers including contractors and department of transportation personnel, as well as vendors and manufacturers. The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starting professional who understands the construction and highway safety industry and thrives in a relationship-driven sales environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with highway contractors, government agencies, and product manufacturers
  • Identify and initiate new business opportunities and markets utilizing Gulf's existing resources, products, and capabilities
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and training sessions for existing and potential customers
  • Perform field visits to troubleshoot issues and gather site information
  • Diligently prepare and follow up on quotes, proposals, and bid opportunities
  • Stay informed about DOT specifications/regulations, product approvals, and industry standards affecting our industry
  • Attend regional and national trade shows, conferences, and industry association meetings such as ATSSA, FTBA, etc
  • Collaborate with inside sales team to ensure customer satisfaction, timely delivery of products, order correctness, and efficiency
  • Regularly report sales activity, forecasts, project tracking, and market happenings to management
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and territory growth objectives

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of outside sales experience, preferably in construction, traffic control, or highway safety equipment
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of State Department of Transportation specifications, product approval process, and highway safety product applications preferred
  • Strong relationship, presentation, and communication skills
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals and maintaining a satisfied customer base
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently throughout the assigned territory
