Position Summary
The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) is responsible for supporting and growing an assigned sales territory by serving as the primary point of contact for RFQs, complex quoting, competitive crossovers, and customer communication. This role works closely with Outside Sales, Regional Managers, Customer Service and Engineering to ensure accurate quotes, timely follow-up, and a strong customer experience.
ISRs manage their territory's quote funnel from initial inquiry through follow-up and are expected to build relationships with branch locations, OEMs, distributors, and key accounts. Success in this position will align to goals of the business leaders to achieve year over year sales growth within their territory of responsibility.

The Inside Sales Representative (ISR) is responsible for supporting and growing an assigned sales territory by serving as the primary point of contact for RFQs, complex quoting, competitive crossovers, and customer communication. This role works closely with Outside Sales, Regional Managers, Customer Service and Engineering to ensure accurate quotes, timely follow-up, and a strong customer experience.
ISRs manage their territory's quote funnel from initial inquiry through follow-up and are expected to build relationships with branch locations, OEMs, distributors, and key accounts. Success in this position will align to goals of the business leaders to achieve year over year sales growth within their territory of responsibility.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the dedicated quoting and support contact for an assigned sales territory.
- Build strong working relationships with branches, OEMs, distributors, and account stakeholders.
- Understand customer applications, buying patterns, and pricing structures.
- Manage ~70% of RFQs for assigned territory, including complex requests.
- Prepare accurate and timely quotes, ensuring correct pricing, configuration, and lead-time validation.
- Handle competitor crossovers and provide technical alternatives when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on non-standard or custom product requests.
- Own the quote lifecycle from inquiry, quote, follow-up and close.
- Maintain organized tracking of open quotes and opportunities.
- Execute consistent follow-up to improve quote win rates and support revenue growth.
- Triage inbound requests, route non-quote items to Customer Service, and take ownership of RFQs.
- Partner with Customer Service to ensure proper handoff between transactional and strategic tasks.
- Work closely with Outside Sales and Regional Sales Managers on strategic accounts and growth opportunities.
- Share customer trends, concerns, and opportunities with cross-functional partners.
- Provide timely communication and a consistent customer experience.
- Assist in territory planning discussions and customer strategy sessions.
Combined Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or technical field OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years in an inside sales, sales support, or technical quoting environment.
- Experience with industrial, mechanical, or engineered products preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in ERP and CRM systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in quoting.
- Ability to interpret technical product information and apply it to customer needs.
- Effective time management, organization, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
