The Director of Accounting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations in a distribution environment. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and the integrity of internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in accounting for inventory, logistics, and cost management—common to distribution businesses.

Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the accounting department, supervising team members and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements and management reports. Manage and ensure accurate accounting for inventory, procurement, warehousing, and distribution activities. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory standards. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support business decisions and operational efficiency. Collaborate with operations, logistics, and procurement departments to align financial practices with business strategy. Handle tax planning and compliance, audit support, and liaison with external auditors. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements tailored for the distribution sector. Oversee ERP and accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and facilitating system upgrades or integrations. Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and participate in long-term planning.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA is Required 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role; experience in a distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost allocation, and operational analysis. Proven experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.). Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
