Job Type
A PRN therapist is part of an on‑call pool of therapists who work on a per diem basis. PRN is short for the Latin term "pro re nata," meaning "as needed." As a PRN therapist, a therapy organization sends patient assignments for you to follow the POC when additional staffing is required. If you are seeking full‑time work as a PRN therapist, it is recommended to sign up with several companies to keep your schedule busy.
Flexible schedule: PRN therapists choose when they work and can accept or decline cases based on availability.
Variety of settings: PRN therapists at Sobe Rehab work in ALF and residential home settings, gaining experience across diverse patient populations.
Higher rates: While PRN positions lack benefits like paid time off and health insurance, they often offer a more attractive wage to compensate.
No long‑term contracts: PRN work can range from a few patient assignments to several, allowing flexibility without binding to a specific facility.
Weekend and holiday shifts: PRN therapists may cover weekends or holidays, often with premium pay and a quieter environment for focused patient care.
Skill maintenance: PRN work keeps therapists engaged and sharpens clinical skills through exposure to varied cases and treatment approaches.
Networking opportunities: Collaborating with colleagues, physicians, and patients expands professional networks and can lead to future job opportunities.
