Job Description We are seeking a skilled
Telecommunications Mechanic I
to join our team at Tinker Air Force Base. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing voice and data communication systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair voice and data communication systems.
Run cable, key cable or house wire to desktop PCs, telephone sets, and terminal connections associated with network infrastructure.
Perform Outside Plant (OSP) work such as:
Manhole and handhole preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs).
Underground and buried fiber and copper cable installation.
Work effectively in all weather conditions to complete assigned tasks.
Provide on-call support and fulfill field-based responsibilities as required.
Qualifications & Skills
High School Diploma
Minimum 2 years of experience in the Telecom Infrastructure industry
Experience with installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of voice/data communication systems.
Proficient in running fiber optic and copper cable, house wire, and key cable.
Knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) maintenance and installation procedures.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections in manholes and handholes.
Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Willingness to provide on-call support and respond to field service needs promptly.
Work Environment This position requires working in diverse weather conditions and may involve physical labor including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces such as manholes and handholes. The candidate must be prepared for on-call duties and field assignments at Tinker AFB.
