Position Summary Recovery Connections of Central Florida is seeking a mission-driven Outreach Specialist to expand access to recovery support services across the community. As part of a Recovery Community Organization (RCO), this role is grounded in peer support, lived experience, and a belief in multiple pathways to recovery.

The Outreach Specialist builds relationships with community partners while engaging individuals affected by substance use disorder (SUD), connecting them to recovery resources, peer support, and the variety of services that Recovery Connections provides. This position blends community outreach, partnership development, and client engagement to strengthen recovery ecosystems across Central Florida.

Key Responsibilities Community Outreach & Peer Engagement

Conduct field-based outreach throughout Polk County, with a concentration on Osceola County when needed, to engage individuals experiencing substance use disorder and housing instability.

Build trust through a peer-informed, nonjudgmental, and recovery-oriented approach.

Provide information, referrals, and linkage to recovery supports, including peer services, treatment, and community resources.

Support individuals in identifying and pursuing recovery goals across multiple pathways (e.g., clinical treatment, peer support, faith-based, harm reduction, and holistic approaches).

Recovery Community Organization (RCO) Development

Promote Recovery Connections’ role as a Recovery Community Organization by increasing awareness of peer support services and recovery resources.

Assist in developing recovery-oriented partnerships with community organizations, providers, and grassroots groups.

Encourage participation in recovery programming, support groups, and community events.

Serve as a recovery ambassador, helping reduce stigma and promote a culture of recovery in the community.

Stakeholder Engagement & Referral Development

Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, including treatment providers, healthcare systems, government agencies, and community-based organizations.

Act as a liaison to ensure effective communication, follow-up, and connection to services.

Maintain an active outreach plan, including consistent engagement with referral partners and community stakeholders.

Data & Documentation

Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, client engagement, and service outcomes.

Complete required documentation in RDP and other data systems in a timely and compliant manner.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Lived experience in recovery is strongly preferred.

Willingness to obtain Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) credential within a specified timeframe

Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the contracted county radius and beyond
