POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the development of accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates in support of Three Rivers Corporation’s commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. This role plays a critical part in supporting the company’s commitment to quality, safety, fiscal responsibility, and client satisfaction by ensuring estimates reflect project scope, risk, and execution strategies. The Senior Estimator partners closely with operations, project management, and leadership to support profitable growth and successful project delivery.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for complex and high-value construction projects from conceptual design through final bid. • Review and approve estimates prepared by Estimators and Junior Estimators for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards. • Serve as the estimating lead during preconstruction meetings, scope reviews, and bid strategy sessions. • Analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents to identify risks, opportunities, and cost drivers. • Develop project budgets, value engineering alternatives, and pricing strategies aligned with Three Rivers Corporation objectives. • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure scope coverage and competitiveness. • Collaborate with project management teams to ensure a seamless transition from estimate to project execution. • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and clients. • Mentor and provide technical guidance to estimating staff. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency. • Support leadership in go/no-go decisions, forecasting, and market analysis. • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary, financial, and strategic information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May provide functional leadership and mentorship to Estimators and Junior Estimators.
QUALIFICATIONS •
Advanced understanding of construction practices, means and methods, and cost controls. •
Strong knowledge of multiple construction trades and how they integrate within project scopes. • Demonstrated ability to lead complex estimates including hard bids and negotiated work. • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE •
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive construction estimating experience. • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
TECHNICAL SKILLS • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Office and field environment. • Occasional travel to job sites and meetings. • Ability to sit, stand, and review plans for extended periods.
