The Social Media Assistant will report to USF World’s Marketing and Communications Specialist and will assist with curating content for USF World’s social media channels and to increase engagement and followers for each channel—LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Content creation will include social media posts, stories, reels, mini web stories based on brief interviews with students, alumni and/or faculty regarding global accomplishments.

The position may also assist with simple graphic design for the social media content, in coordination with other team members, and in capturing event material via video and/or camera as needed.

Responsibilities

Monitor USF World’s social media channels and respond/engage to increase engagement and followers.

Assist with content development with content producers, including posts, video, photos, reels, stories and mini articles.

Create social media graphics as needed.

Manage marketing assets, including photo folders.

Support marketing campaigns and digital promotion of conferences and events through social media, video, and photo contributions.

Assist with social media calendar management.

Support communications and marketing projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Major in marketing, mass communications, or related field

Integrated Public Relations & Advertising (IPRA)

Enrolled as a full-time student with good academic standing at USF

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with social media community development and knowledge of social media marketing tactics on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

Ability to design and create online materials using Canva (Adobe Creative Suite Software experience a plus).

Photography and video experience as related to social media posting preferred.

Passion for social media and digital brand marketing with a portfolio of your work.

Special Skills

Team player and the ability to work closely with various staff members as well as external partners.

Ability to speak to diverse audiences.

Distinguish between academic, journalistic, and web writing styles with an understanding of how to vary content between student and faculty audiences.

Organized, multi-tasker with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.

Ability to think strategically and creatively.
