This role requires associates to work out of the MVH Tampa, FL hub location.
Why This Role Matters: The Paralegal, Employment Law works closely with the Senior Counsel Employment Law team within Mars Veterinary Health (MVH) North American to support the business units including Banfield, BluePearl, and VCA. This role is part of the MVH Legal function’s regional Employment Law Center of Excellence & Deployment (CoE&D) a collaborative pool of legal resources professionals designed to dynamically balance workload and remain responsive to the evolving needs of our business units in all jurisdictions, including outside the United States with the assistance of local counsel.
The ideal candidate will have experience in employment law matters and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with attorneys, People & Organization (P&O) professionals, compliance partners, and external counsel. The work will consist of a wide range of employment and labor-related matters, including employment agreements, restrictive covenants, compliance, administrative claims, litigation management, associate relations, and professional licensing and liability matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of employment law strategies that support organizational goals and compliance.
You Will:
Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Provide support to employment counsel on a broad range of workplace legal matters including associate relations, policy implementation, compliance programs, internal investigations, and litigation support.
Assist with the management of employment-related claims, including EEOC/administrative charges, demand letters, and litigation, including coordinating with outside counsel, maintaining case files, and tracking deadlines.
Assist with and manage professional licensing and liability matters.
Help manage and maintain the employment policy library, working with legal and P&O teams to track revisions, approvals, and updates for North American policies.
Perform legal and factual research related to employment laws, regulations and developments in North America; prepare summaries or memoranda as needed.
Support intake and triage of legal requests and ensure timely routing and follow-up.
Assist in preparation of training materials, presentations, and communications for business teams related to employment law and compliance topics.
Track and maintain records and metrics related to employment matters (e.g., litigation tracking, compliance calendar, investigation log).
Contribute to knowledge management and process improvement initiatives across the Legal COE.

Your Experience Should Include:
Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate is preferred.
5+ years of paralegal experience, with at least 2–3 years focused on employment law within a law firm or in-house legal department.
Familiarity with U.S. federal and state employment laws; working knowledge of Canadian employment law is a strong plus.
Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with legal operations tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Workday, or contract/litigation management systems).
Experience working in a Center of Excellence or shared resource model preferred.
Preferred: Prior experience with employment litigation case management and coordinating with external counsel.
Salary Range: $33.46 - $52.28/hour
Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness.
