Hours : 16-24 hours per week, hours must be worked M-F between 7:00am - 5:00pm
Job Type : Contract (12 Months + potential to extend) | Part-time
Compensation : $23.00-27.00/hr W2

About The Role Our firm is seeking a Labeling Specialist to support a large, well-established manufacturer in the consumer packaged goods and food industry. This role is embedded within a food safety and quality organization that supports nationally recognized brands and complex product portfolios. The Labeling Specialist will provide subject‑matter expertise for packaged food labeling, ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting business and innovation needs.
Job Description Labeling Specialists are engaged on defined assignments across a Food Safety and Quality community, providing package labeling expertise for a variety of products and initiatives. This role partners closely with Research & Development, Quality, Operations, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and apply knowledge of FDA and USDA food labeling regulations, as well as internal labeling policies and standards
Collaborate with labeling and regulatory teams to support ongoing projects and business needs
Develop, maintain, and verify accurate labeling information for finished products, including allergens, nutrition facts, ingredient statements, product names, and claims
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, third‑party certification requirements (e.g., non‑GMO, gluten‑free), and company policies
Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure labeling compliance across local and regional markets
Prepare and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and product claims
Review and approve packaging artwork, graphics, and label text for accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance
Support responses to consumer and customer inquiries related to product labeling
Contribute to regulatory, food safety, brand, litigation, and third‑party risk management efforts, balancing compliance requirements with business and operational needs
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in food labeling, regulatory affairs, or a related area
Strong understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with computer systems and the ability to work across multiple databases
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large or complex food portfolios
Familiarity with third‑party certification standards (e.g., non‑GMO, gluten‑free)
Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and proactively support additional work during slower business periods
