Architectural Designer
On Point Search Group, Acton, MA, United States
About the Company
A well‑established, high‑end residential design‑build firm based in MetroWest Boston. The team delivers thoughtful renovations, additions, and full home transformations, with a strong reputation for craftsmanship and client experience.
Currently a tight‑knit group of ~10, with plans to grow, and doing roughly $4–5M annually in design‑build remodeling work.
The Opportunity This is not a back‑office design role.
Seeking an
Architectural Designer / Project Developer
who can operate at the front end of projects — working directly with clients, shaping design, and helping guide projects from initial concept through construction.
This role sits at the core of the business and will have real influence on both design direction and project success.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead client conversations alongside ownership from early concept through project kickoff
Develop design solutions for high‑end renovations, additions, and kitchen/bath projects
Produce drawings, construction documents, and 3D models
Document existing conditions and evaluate site constraints
Assist with budgeting, scope development, and early feasibility
Perform take‑offs and help build project estimates
Coordinate closely with field teams and trade partners
Stay involved during construction to ensure design intent is executed properly
Help drive projects from design into production without handoff gaps
What They’re Looking For
~10+ years in residential architecture, remodeling, or design‑build
Strong experience with high‑end renovations (not ground‑up heavy)
Comfortable wearing multiple hats — design, estimating input, client interaction
Solid understanding of residential construction (wood frame, sequencing, feasibility)
Proficiency in Chief Architect, Revit, or similar tools
Able to produce clean, buildable construction documents
Strong client presence — someone who can sit at the table, not just behind a screen
Bonus: familiarity with NARI standards or design‑build environments
Why This Role Is Interesting
Direct exposure to ownership and decision‑making
Real influence over projects from concept through completion
Tight, collaborative team — not a corporate machine
Consistent pipeline of high‑end residential work
Opportunity to grow with a firm actively looking to scale.
