WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible between 8 am and 5 pm, with frequent evening and weekend requirements
COMPENSATION: $15 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY The Lead Events Intern supports the planning and execution of Brookings Regional Growth Alliance events and works closely with the Signature Events Coordinator throughout the event season. The role serves as a primary support person for planning and executing events, coordinates intern assignments, monitors event flow, and ensures key tasks are completed. This includes supporting communication between staff and interns, helping manage setup and teardown, and stepping in where additional support is needed to keep the event running smoothly. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys event planning, is comfortable taking initiative, and can keep things organized in a fast-paced environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Event Planning Support
Assist with planning and preparing for Growth Alliance events
Help ensure event timelines and logistics stay on track
Assist with coordinating vendors, sponsors, and event materials
Support event setup, execution, and teardown preparation
Intern Team Coordination
Help assign roles and responsibilities to interns for each event
Serve as a main point of contact for interns during events
Help answer questions and provide direction throughout the event
Assist in making sure all event areas are properly staffed
Day-of Event Leadership
Help oversee event setup, execution, and teardown, and ensure tasks are completed
Monitor event flow and help address immediate needsCommunicate updates between staff and interns
Step in to support areas that need additional help
General Support
Assist Growth Alliance staff with additional event-related tasks as needed
Help maintain the organization of event materials and supplies
Support post-event cleanup and wrap-up
REQUIREMENTS
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and problem-solve
Comfortable leading peers and giving direction
Ability to stay flexible and adapt during events
Interest in event planning, communications, or community engagement
TIME COMMITMENT This position runs from May through August with up to 20 hours per week depending on event needs and scheduling. Evening availability is required for certain events, along with occasional weekend availability. There may be an opportunity to extend the position beyond its initial term, depending on organizational needs and performance.

Downtown at Sundown: July 30; August 6, 13, 20, 27
Fall Classic Golf Tournament (potential - outside of internship term): October 10
