Purpose The Mishkon IDD Programs provide supports and services in a healthy and safe environment for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Our core values focus on person‑centered planning, community integration, and close collaboration with families and the community, all grounded in an Orthodox Jewish lens.

Position Overview As Assistant Director of Residential Services, you will provide managerial and operational oversight of assigned Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) homes or Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) units serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will ensure high‑quality, person‑centered care, maintain regulatory compliance, foster accountability, and coordinate interdisciplinary teams.

Key Essential Functions

Residential Operations & Oversight

Manage day‑to‑day operations of IRA or ICF residences.

Oversee scheduling, budgeting, supply management and vehicle/plant maintenance.

Conduct site visits, monitor health needs, and audit finances.

Review fire drill reports and update evacuation plans.

Coordinate schedules and support community integration.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with OPWDD, DOH, CARF and The Jewish Board’s standards.

Conduct regular quality assurance checks and audits.

Participate in internal audits, licensing inspections and address deficiencies.

Complete incident reporting and maintain accurate documentation.

Engage in OPWDD/DOH/IAC training.

Staff Management & Development

Supervise Residence Managers and assigned staff.

Hire, train, evaluate, and provide performance feedback.

Conduct team meetings, 1:1 supervision, and ongoing training.

Provide on‑call support during crisis or emergency calls.

Interdisciplinary Team Coordination

Coordinate clinical, nursing and residential team processes.

Support medical care with Nurses/LPNs, behavior plans with BIS, and facilities issues with Facilities.

Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary meetings.

Person‑Centered & Family Engagement

Implement strategies to improve quality of life.

Engage with individuals and families regularly to ensure satisfaction.

Manage relationships with families, guardians, and advocates.

Administrative & Strategic Responsibilities

Provide reports to the Director of Residential Services.

Assist in developing and implementing new systems, policies, and procedures.

Participate in department meetings, intake and screening processes.

Be available for after‑hours on‑call responsibilities.

Provide direct coverage in the absence of Residence Managers.

Other duties as assigned.

Educational & Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of experience in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, including 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role; OR

Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Valid NYS Driver’s License (preferred).

SCIP‑R, CPR, AMAP trained and certified (preferred).

Knowledge of DOH and/or OPWDD regulatory requirements (required).

Familiarity with Orthodox Jewish practices (preferred); commitment to learn (required).

Develop positive working relationships and collaborate across departments.

Computer Skills Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with audio‑video platforms (Zoom, Teams) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) applications. Willingness to learn new software and use data and trends to inform practice.

Work Environment & Physical Effort

Must lift clients with a mechanical device, position clients, push wheelchairs, and transfer clients physically as required.

Must travel daily and walk program sites, including stairs.

Ability to sit at a computer for up to 75% of the day.
