Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Payroll Director to lead payroll operations for a large, complex, privately held organization. This high‑impact leadership role oversees a strong, tenured payroll team and partners closely with HR, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership for all payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
Oversee payroll processing for a large, multi‑entity and multi‑state workforce
Serve as the primary payroll subject‑matter expert for executives, HR, Finance, and external partners
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging ADP Vantage functionality and best practices
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
Lead, coach, and develop a seasoned payroll team, fostering engagement and accountability
Manage relationships with vendors, auditors, and regulatory agencies
Support audits, reconciliations, and year‑end payroll activities
Requirements
Proven experience leading payroll operations in a large, complex organization
Deep hands‑on knowledge of ADP Vantage (required)
Strong understanding of payroll tax compliance, wage and hour regulations, and reporting
Demonstrated success leading and developing experienced payroll professionals
Strategic mindset paired with strong operational execution
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
