The Technical Writer will be part of a dynamic team that provides IT support, maintenance, operations, logistics, and engineering services to help ensure the secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of INL/A Management Information Systems. This role will provide technical writing support to the Astraeus team supporting the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics, and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A), providing essential technology services in support of their missions to sustain the national security and economic interests of our nation.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the PM and team leads to create, maintain, and submit contract deliverables and reports

Maintain and routinely audit contract deliverables for quality compliance

Attend meetings and maintain minutes as directed by the PM

Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and product managers to gather and understand technical requirements.

Create and maintain the following types of documentation:

Standard Operating Procedures: Step‑by‑step instructions for common tasks and processes.

Technical Support Guides: Guides for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Work Instructions: Detailed instructions for specific tasks or procedures.

High‑Level Diagrams: Overviews of system design, architecture, and major components.

Low‑Level Diagrams: Detailed breakdowns of components, interfaces, and functionality.

Specification Sheets: Concise summaries of product features, technical specifications, and requirements.

Process Documentation: Outlines of business, manufacturing, or development processes.

Develop and utilize visual aids like diagrams, flowcharts, and screenshots to enhance documentation clarity.

Ensure documentation aligns with company style guides and quality standards.

Participate in development and testing cycles to gain in‑depth product knowledge.

Manage documentation repository and version control systems.

Travel may be required for special projects. (CONUS, OCONUS)

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Education requirement may be substituted with 4+ years of related documentation and reporting experience.

2+ years of government contracting experience in an information technology environment preferred.

Secret clearance required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proven ability to write clear, concise, and user‑friendly documentation.

Ability to synthesize information received at meetings/briefings and produce accurate minutes.

Experience with information technology concepts and ability to learn new technologies.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience maintaining SharePoint documentation repositories.

Ability to learn and use diagramming tools (e.g., Visio).
