Duties:
The Senior Library Assistant (Marketing Specialist) performs advanced professional work developing, coordinating, and implementing strategic marketing and communications initiatives that promote Pasadena Public Library services, programs, and community impact. Working in a diverse environment, this position helps fulfill the mission, vision, and values of the Library and the City of Pasadena by strengthening public awareness, engagement, and support for library services through integrated marketing strategies, digital communications, and community outreach. The Senior Library Assistant (Marketing Specialist) collaborates with library leadership, city communications staff, community partners, and internal teams to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and effective promotion of library initiatives. Develops and implements marketing strategies that promote library services, programs, collections, and initiatives. Manages the library's digital presence including the website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels. Creates and coordinates marketing campaigns to increase public awareness, program attendance, and community engagement. Produces promotional materials including graphics, digital content, publications, and other marketing assets that align with City branding standards. Collaborates with library leadership and staff to identify promotional opportunities and communicate the value of library services. Coordinates marketing efforts across library locations to ensure consistent messaging and branding. Tracks and analyzes marketing metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and improve engagement. Supports community outreach initiatives and represents the library at community events and partnerships. Works with the City of Pasadena Communications Department to ensure marketing materials align with city policies and communication standards. Provides marketing support for major initiatives, special projects, and strategic priorities of the library. May assist with coordination of marketing budgets, promotional resources, and vendor relationships. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and after regular business hours as necessary. Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses. Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED with three (3) years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, including experience managing social media platforms, digital communications, or promotional campaigns. Experience using graphic design or content creation software such as Canva, Publisher, or similar tools. Demonstrated experience developing marketing materials and promoting programs or services to the public.
PREFERRED: Associate's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Journalism, or a related field. Experience working in a public library, municipal government, nonprofit organization, or community-focused environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
From 11 to less than 21 years of service – four weeks of vacation per year.
From 21 to less than 26 years of service – five weeks of vacation per year.
From 26 years of service and up – six weeks of vacation per year.
