Senior Economist and Director of Economic Competitiveness
In this forward-facing role the Director of Economic Competitiveness is responsible for developing and implementing a data-driven thought leadership strategy, provides guidance on a wide range of topics, including market trends, industry conditions, consumer behavior, workforce and other factors that influence the business climate. The Director works collaboratively with the internal and external constituencies. This role has direct supervisory responsibilities and the team serves organizational efforts through education, presentations, research, and tailored reports and data sets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes economic and labor trends to forecast future business conditions and publishing reports on those forecasts
Develops and recommends changes to organizational policies based on economic data
Provides relevant, timely, brief points of interest such as economic impact of “ “ to CEO, senior management and board members
Meets with external parties to include government officials to discuss current economic conditions and potential impacts on industries
Provides a comprehensive workforce analysis; trends, gaps, and opportunities
Conducts research on economic topics such as labor market trends, business expansion activity, and housing & construction presenting data and analysis
Provides information about economic trends that could affect a client’s bottom line and decision to locate in Colorado
Preparation of industry cluster reports
Conducts analysis of economic data to track patterns and trends
Prepares presentations on economic trends for internal or external clients
Prepares forecasts on economic indicators such as inflation rates, interest rates, and unemployment rates
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
7-10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, finance, business administration, or another closely related field.
SKILLS
Candidates should have refined interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; strong oral and written communications skills; problem-solving acumen; and demonstrate personal integrity, confidence, diplomacy as well as flexibility.
The ability to meet hard deadlines and provide deliverables on schedule.
Readily establishes relationships and strong lines of communication with other economists, business leaders, government officials and the public to present research and findings as it relates to the state of the economy.
Comfortable leveraging new technology, excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office products (SharePoint, Teams, Word PowerPoint, Excel is essential).
Is an innovator, leveraging and interpreting the data and analysis while curating unique insights and perspectives
The acumen and ability to develop and represent the Chamber and team.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $ 130,000
