
Senior Database Administrator

Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Sr. Database Administrator to add to their growing team. Our client is seeking someone who designs, installs, maintains and upgrades the enterprise’s production databases. Provides technical expertise in the use of database technology. Accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise’s database environment. Works closely with clients, business analysts, systems programmers, and application developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues---helping to transform business requirements into environment specific databases. Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and allocates database resources to achieve optimum database performance. Performs additional job duties as required.
Responsibilities
Analyze business requirements and provide server and database sizing
Identify database bottlenecks and provide remediation steps
Perform database restore actions
Design, implement, and test enterprise level disaster recovery solutions
Design, implement, and test high availability database solutions including clustering
Perform user provisioning
Design and implement security configuration including grants, roles, and profiles
Perform database security monitoring
Perform database auditing and implementing security standards
Perform database tuning related tasks
Design, size, and implement enterprise level database systems
Install and configure database software
Perform database upgrade and patching
Complete database migrations from legacy to new hardware
UNIX shell scripting
Server capacity planning and resource analysis
Design and implement logical database schemas including ERD diagraming
Control and execute code deployments to upper database environments
Execute database data movement to satisfy ETL, backup/recover, and other business needs
Administer and maintain ETL tools including Informatica
Implement and support enterprise level database backup solutions
Configure monitoring across all enterprise databases
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Deep understanding or experience supporting databases on Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) or ExaData/ExaCC/ExaCS
Hands‑on experience working with Oracle 12.1 through 19c.
Database installation, upgrading, migrating, patching, disaster recovery, high availability, monitoring, assessing, and providing resolution.
Experience with Oracle OEM for database monitoring, and problem diagnosis
Experience with backup and restore using RMAN
Knowledge and experience with database capacity planning
Experience monitoring and analysis of performance metrics and allocation of database resources to achieve optimum database performance
Familiarity with fail‑over testing and participation in DR exercise
In‑depth knowledge of Goldengate or Data Guard replication
Knowledge of other open‑source database platforms
Working with Python, Shell, and PowerShell scripting.
Designing automated deployments.
Experience with Unix (AIX), and Linux operating system.
Experience with Informatica.
Experience with change management tools including ServiceNow.
